Transportation
Airports
Rome as has two main international airports:
- Leonardo da Vinci/Fiumicino International Airport (Rome Fiumicino - FCO) ‐ Rome's main airport is modern, large, rather efficient, and well connected to the center of the city by public transportation.
- Giovan Battista Pastine/Ciampino International Airport (Rome Ciampino - CIA) ‐ Located to the southeast of the capital. This small airport is closer to the city center than Fiumicino but has no direct train connection.
Train stations
- The main stations in Rome are Stazione Termini (Piazza dei Cinquecento) and Stazione Tiburtina (Piazza della Stazione Tiburtina). Both stations are connected to the network by the underground and many buses in all directions leave from outside the stations.
Transportation from airports
- From Fiumicino Airport the quickest way to reach central Rome is the shuttle train, the Leonardo Express, which leaves every 30 minutes for the main station, Stazione Termini. The journey lasts about half an hour and costs 14 Euro. From there, it is possible to reach any point in the city thanks to the extensive public transport network. The terminus is right outside the station and it is connected to the two underground lines, A and B. Also inside the airport train station is the local train, which stops at Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina Stations. The cost is 8 Euro.
- From Ciampino Airport the easiest way to reach Rome is by buses. They connect the airport to the main railway station, Stazione Termini, and cost 5-8 euro.
Taxi
The Comune di Roma (Rome Council) has set up a fixed tariff for taxis from Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports to inside the city walls. The tariff is 40 Euro from Fiumicino and 30 Euro from Ciampino. The number to call for a taxi is +39 06 0609
